The experience of Marten

For one and a half years, I could call myself the Communication Manager of Solar Team Twente. My name is Marten, 25 years old, and I enjoyed every second of it. I joined the team to bring my skills as a second-year IDE student into practice. Joining Solar Team Twente was a great opportunity to increase my practical skills and improve my personal leadership.

As Communication Manager, it was my responsibility to facilitate the media team in everything they needed to fulfil their function in order to spread the word of this fantastic journey. Bringing everyone together, sharing the story with the press, and planning out the communication strategy and media team for the race in Australia—these were a few of my main tasks during the edition.

For me, it was so rewarding to see all the hard work coming slowly together during the edition. First, the small events with partners, building up to the car reveal, the race simulation, and finally Australia. Seeing my communication team working as a smooth machine and seeing all the output spread out over the internet was incredibly rewarding.

Looking back, I am still immensely proud of what we, as a media team, accomplished.
