Nederlands Lucht- en Ruimtevaartcentrum

Company Description

The NLR is the knowledge centre for aerospace in the Netherlands. We answer the following questions for example: how can planes be made more silent, sustainable and safer, while the capacity on the ground and in the air can still be expanded? How can we keep satellites at a constant temperature to ensure that they keep functioning efficiently?

A staff of 650 employees develops new technologies where disciplines, like aircraft engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science and psychology, are combined. They make use of state-of-the-art facilities, like wind tunnels and interconnected airplanes and ATC radar and tower simulators.

The NLR focuses on the entire life cycle of airplanes: from research via design, service and maintenance to modernizing in both military and civil aviation.

''I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.'' - Thomas Edison (1931)
